The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 这种题材的片子为什么要拍全果露点的床戏...没看明白结尾。男主自己做的为什么还要去查别人……
剧情还行，就是这名字翻中文一点也不准确，啥叫宝刀未老？？跑题了
镜头语言相当不错，画面传递的情节及情绪超过了台词。
看的快睡着了，各种剪辑制造悬疑感。。结果却莫名其妙
以为是谍战片或者反恐片，结果是爱情片，只是没有想到。

其实看这个片名就差不多知道影片的质量了。这个片子男性观众和女性观众看绝对是两种不同的理解和反应。男的会认为女主作，不成熟。女的会认为男主不负责，不认真。女方想要安全感，男方想牺牲双方的时间去赚取她想要的安全感，其实双方都没有错，多一份理解多一些沟通，也许就不会有那么多问题了。难免狗血，现实里边估计早就好就好散了。两星半。
老情人老同事最后的晚餐，针锋相对，互诉衷肠，镜头和剪辑将悬疑值拉满，中年版克里斯真是将气质狠狠怼人脸上，唯一让人不觉得不合适的就是两位演情侣是真的不搭。
chris太多了，所以要拍个纯文戏的，预算还少，理解你。

电影反转还是可以的，比之前那部承包商好一点，但是毫无动作场面我也是无语，完全是话痨片。不过漏洞还是比较大的，比如到底男主角的目的是啥、前面那么正经的训话也就对不上了，感觉看到最后就为了爱情而爱情。
前半段有点闷，中后段很给力，相当好的剧本，有意思的摄影。克里斯派为什么老成这样，还能用璀璨的蓝眼睛蛊人！
看片名以为是动作枪战片，看开头以为是悬疑谍战片，看一会儿以为是惊悚悬疑片，看完才知道是爱情片。
