The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. 虽然片名上做了改动，但剧本其实是极为正统的莎翁剧作，所以试图从本片中解读出更多释义是困难的。影像风格可能是与之前几部麦克白电影最大的区别：荒野和室内景大量采用对称式构图；走廊上的门洞光影恰如一排剑阵；奇幻与现实无缝衔接；黑白摄影的另一个优点是弱化了肤色的差异，所以黑麦也显得不那么违和了。
