The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 一般般吧，黑人牛仔的事我没查过资料就不吐槽了，唯一想吐槽的是最后决战，不是说对面只有十六个人么？像我这样闲的数人头，最后决战中明确中枪的敌人数出41个人，强行解释的话就是那会火器威力不够，平均每人中三枪才死
有一个很出戏的感受，为什么同样的那个年代的西部片，你们的小镇却看起来新的跟2021年建的一样？
美国口语越发让人觉得做作，尤其本电影中女主的发音，让人受不了。
毫无疑问，资本塑造了这一切。
女主真好看，但是这不就是为了分手而分手，我害怕爱上你（Literally me ，所以我连同意在一起都不会同意，因为我自己知道我有多容易broken.
主角小哥的深仇大恨只在片头片尾体现了一下，最后还兄弟温情了一把，其余时间都在装逼。
拖沓的节奏是为了最后真相揭晓后观众的心理效果服务，但观感上来讲实在有点难受。美术不错。
三分给配乐和为数不多的枪战场面。一部西部片，表演浮夸也就算了，偏偏台词非常啰嗦，搞得像舞台剧一样。

我还挺喜欢的，不管是配乐还是画面都有加成效果所以其他部分可以原谅那种（）故事就是个很传统西部片的故事，包括谁会死谁会活下来也基本都写在脸上了，不过结尾还是像看新龙门客栈一样，忍不住要喜欢它……Buck手下的快枪手小哥长得好像Big Sean，我真的从头到尾都在幻视x
两星半吧，安妮丹毒液艾迪一对夫妻一对基，更神奇的是这个人无论怎样排列组合都蛮好嗑的诶，他们好像互相爱着😂从第一部就觉得丹真是个勇敢的好人啊！尖叫出来以后就换了一身Gucci，笑的，黑人发达了就是要穿Gucci！这一部真是食之无味弃之可惜，你不能说很难看，但更说不出来它好看

不好看，印象中第一集也是两个毒液同族人在打，这次的对手以看就特别不牛逼，整体也敷衍。导演竟然是那个人，还有MW竟然没被我认出来，还是好看。另外，那个Dan在那部美剧中是不是也叫Dan。WOT
哪怕知道最后要分手我也想谈这样一场恋爱，一次就好。
