The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? 片尾说着“体认到彼此都是真实的人类，花时间倾听”，通篇表现的却是把喊话对象想象成没有理性能力的乌合之众。阴阳怪气只能让同温层里的人爽过，过后还是各走各路。揶揄的是无知，而展现的却是傲慢。

双向救赎其实也不太准确，更像是一个自由散漫的男主救赎一见钟情但是不幸失足的女主的故事。

宗教意味停深的一个电影，这样的故事只可能在宗教世界存在吧……爱与救赎，但真的蛮催泪的，画面拍的很好看，制作精良带来直观的视觉享受

整部电影为了宣扬宗教而不惜放弃了剧情的逻辑和人设的合理性，看的时候影院里的其他美国人在看到女主自己一次一次跑回去的时候都笑了。
