The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 尽管情节上有很多硬伤，人物过于单薄，但依旧是一部好电影。女性权益保护摇旗呐喊多年，还是有人装聋作哑。一项重大制度的改变，往往伴随着很多没有姓名之人的牺牲。观影前半段总有一种“小题大做”之感，看到最后部分才发现，如果连我都觉得小题大做，那该有多少人会觉得是“不值一提”啊。正如电影中的一句台词：“某些人就是要对着他的耳朵大喊大叫，他才能听得见！”如果只有知道，而没有行动，那一切都不会改变的。
其中有一星，给敢于拍这个题材人们和允许播放这个题材的环境。
观感可以！音效特多！印度妇女被强奸的社会问题到了现在竟然还是问题！他们的血不是流向脑子，而是流向其他地方…看的是机翻版字幕，糟心。

结构有点类似《误杀2》，有韩国电影那味，是一部看完不失望的电影，开局就抓住了看点，使得你非常想了解她的动机和目的以及后续发展，一个普通老师以一人之力改变这个法律漏洞，演技很强。
立意挺好的，可是作为悬疑犯罪片来看的话，漏洞有点多。
自从看了三年A班后，就免疫了一切绑架题材电影，但说实话，这部电影不好看的原因只是在于，作为一部电影，它是不好看的，单这一点，就无法让我继续深入它所要探讨的印度女性命题，这种商业化、类型化的表达，远远没有现实主义表达来得更有说服力
印度电影几乎什么问题都敢抨击，三傻里的高考制度、px里的宗教问题，这一部，好像是我看到的第一部剧烈地反映印度女性问题的电影。能拍出来、能播出来，感觉某些方面确实比那啥宽松自由。就是希望不要停留在文化层面的觉醒，不要只是个美好的愿景。
我其实一直都觉得强奸犯强奸的不仅仅是一个人，是一个人的一生、一个家庭的一生。
无论印度电影怎么去宣导真正女权的价值观，这个国家并不会有任何改变，所以得接受这个现实分离的感觉。
70/100 放在印度的语境下，社会意义远远超过了影片本身，她是中国的药神，是韩国的熔炉，是社会阴暗面一个呐喊的突破口；她也更是理想主义的——所有进展都在计划之内，所有要求都能被满足，更是撼动了法律，反观现实世界，又是多么的无助。
